petapixel.

one of the blogs i read sometimes, petapixel, had a post about how photographers actually spend their time. any photographer knows how TRUE this chart below is! and we also know that so many people really do think a photographer’s life is more like the chart on the left. haha. good stuff.

circle.

ladies and gentlemen of the world, here is our finished movie for multimedia II! enjoy. :]

low key.

one of my favorite assignments so far in advanced portraiture was our low key/high key assignment. we had the option of shooting someone on either high key (all white) or low key (all black). i chose low key and immediately thought about shooting my former classmate (and friend) heather! heather has amazing tattoos so i thought that would be perfect for a moody kinda portrait. i was super happy with that i got. her hair color combined with the light and the tattoos was pretty fantastic. thanks so much nicole and romina for all your help and ideas! :]

fill flash.

in journalism, we had to take a fill flash portrait or shoot an event using fill flash. i knew absolutely nothing about fill flash so i was genuinely confused and scared about this assignment! using an external flash is pretty daunting and i found it difficult to get a handle on. i definitely need more practice! luckily i was able to get a pretty awesome shot of mi amiga romina. bouncing the flash off the wall really softened the light on her face! plus balancing the exposure to ensure to keep some of that awesome natural light coming through the door was key. i’m pretty happy with my results considering my skill level! :]

holiday portraits.

come one come all! haha. no seriously, come get your holiday portraits taken by some uber-talented photographers. all the proceeds from the show will go to our portfolio show next summer! please come. it’ll be awesome.

kids.

one of our first assignments in advanced portraiture was kid photography. after the craziness that was pet photography the previous week, i totally thought shooting kids would be a breeze! i was so wrong. if the kid isn’t totally like america’s next top model but in kid form, kids get so emotional and picky and totally lost once they get in the studio and in front of the camera. haha. sure kids are super photogenic when they’re in their own environment, but they get so tense once the pressure of being in the studio with the lights gets to them. luckily i was able to get just a couple of decent shots of my kid! phew. :]

circle.

i officially give myself the award for being the worst blogger in our class. seriously, my apologies. but i have a bunch of posts queued up, so they should be trickling out over the next few days! get excited.

but our last few weeks in multimedia II have consisted of my partner romina and i shooting/editing/watching/scoring our movie that we created. i’m very proud of the work we accomplished and i think our first go round went pretty well! i’m really looking forward to having everyone watch it and getting their feedback. hopefully people will like it as much as we do! hopefully.

seauxphee.

just wanted to show you this super cute picture i took of my dog seauxphee! recently in advanced portraiture class we had the daunting task of taking pet portraits. i was actually pretty nervous about bringing in my dog and having her behave, but she was on her best behavior! and i got a few awesome pictures of her. i’ll post some other ones soon. :]

just picked up this bad boy last week! it’s a mamiya rz67 medium format camera. can’t wait to figure out how to use it. :]
